Need sunshine and 80 degree weather in January? Puerto Rico.
Love Bad Bunny? Puerto Rico.
Like blue bricks? Puerto freaking Rico.

You wouldn’t think seasonal depression would be a thing when you live in the sunshine state but, north Florida had been gray and windy for a month and was expecting snow. SNOW. I was grumpy, lazy, and carb loading. Realizing I had a child-free weekend approaching, I pounced on a flight despite it leaving out of an inconvenient airport 2 hours away.
It was the first time I’ve ever booked the flight and been able to check in immediately.
It’s odd, I’ll procrastinate on emptying the dishwasher for 3 days but can book a flight, clean the house, plan an itinerary, and pack a bag in 45 seconds.
My main purpose for the trip was to soak in as much sun as possible. I also wanted to be able to walk and explore without a car so I settled on Old San Juan for the hotel. I saw a hotel that was a former convent and thought “quiet, calm, and a little sacrilegious?” and signed myself up.
